About

The Farm

Sea Hunter Farm is a scenic farm located close to the Francis Marion National Forest with access to trails. We offer private and semi-private turnout with run-ins, a 130’x 200′ lighted riding arena with professional jumps, beautiful open concept barn with nine 12×12 stalls, secondary pony barn with five more stalls, large climate controlled tack room, 2 wash racks for bathing and grooming, and a large pond and dock with seating area that is great for watching those riding in the ring or fishing. The property is fully fenced in with an automatic pass code protected gated entrance.

UPDATE: We have purchased 10 more acres adjacent to our farm and look forward to expanding our facility in the near future. Stay tuned on social media for updates.

Owner/Trainer/Rider:
Kit Menis

Kit Menis started riding at the age of 6. She fox hunted with Middleton Place Hounds, where she was one of the youngest members to receive her colors when she was 10 years old. Kit also competed on the show circuit in the Hunters and Equitation divisions as a junior. While attending college she rode at the highest level on the Clemson University Equestrian Hunt Seat and Western teams. After graduation she took on the job of coaching Clemson’s Equestrian Team.

As an adult Kit continued showing and won many Championships and Year End Awards in the Adult Hunters, Equitation and Medal classes, including circuit Year End Adult Medal Champion.

Kit enjoyed teaching students as an assistant trainer at Oakfield Farm for 3 years prior to opening her own facility with her husband and daughter. SHF was started in 2016 and has seen much success. Her students have won countless year end awards as well as qualifying and competing in regional and national championships, including several top finishes at National Finals. Kit loves teaching students of all ages good horsemanship along with proper riding technique.

Assistant Trainer/Rider:
Lizzy McCrady

From the moment Lizzy started riding at 8 years old, horses have been at the center of her life. As a junior rider, she worked as a working student for Sharon Enteen at Falcon Ridge Stables, gaining invaluable experience both in and out of the show ring. During her junior career, she competed at top national finals including Pony Finals, Junior Hunter Finals, Washington International Horse Show Equitation Finals, ASPCA Maclay Finals, and successfully competed in the jumper ring through the 1.30m.

She continued her riding career as a member of the UT Martin Equestrian Team. While finishing her education online she went back to Falcon Ridge where she took the position as Sharon’s assistant trainer and continued working alongside her after graduation.

Over the years, she has developed extensive experience working with young horses, helping bring along green prospects, and teaching riders of all levels. She is passionate about helping both horses and riders build confidence, consistency, and strong fundamentals.

Training for Horse and Rider

For the Horse

“It is not the great trainer who can cause his or her horse to perform. The great trainer can cause a horse to WANT to perform.”

Sea Hunter Farm offers exceptional training for horses and ponies. From teaching the young horse from the ground up to tuning up the experienced hunter jumper. We offer a range of training programs that provide the best for your horse.

Training packages are customized for you and your horse’s specific needs. Please contact us to discuss what training options meet your goals.

Lessons

“The horse you get off is not the same as the horse you got on. It is your job as a rider to ensure that as often as possible, the change is for the better.”

At Sea Hunter Farm we pride ourselves on teaching our students all areas of horsemanship including horse care and safety, along with proper riding technique. We focus on hunters and equitation and encourage all of our students to strive to be a part of our horse show
team.

Currently we do not have any lesson horses, and only offer lessons to students that own or lease their own horse/pony.

(Photos: SHF students have had lots of success at US Pony Finals, coming home with many top 20 ribbons over the years.)
